Meet Chelsea Gawron

I'm Chelsea, and my passion lies in guiding your wellness journey and empowering you to thrive. Your body communicates with purpose, and I'm here to help interpret its messages, leading you toward balance and exploring your full health potential. At the core of my practice is a commitment to transforming healthcare through prevention, education, and health promotion. As your advocate and educator, I offer tailored support for various health challenges, including hormonal imbalances, fatigue, skin concerns, menopausal symptoms, immune dysfunction, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, cardiovascular issues, and sub-optimal mental states such as anxiety, stress, and low mood.

Growing up in a family deeply rooted in the culinary world, I gained invaluable insights into the relationship between food and health. While my mother and grandmother instilled in me the love of seasonal gardening and nourishing foods, my father, a respected chef, shared his passion for foraging and the beauty of nature's bounty. I also witnessed firsthand the negative effects of late nights, stress, and indulgent foods on the body. Despite conventional medicine dismissing my symptoms as insignificant, I eventually listened to my body's signals, embarking on my own healing journey that ultimately inspired me to guide others on their paths to wellness.

Qualifications and Experience

My journey over the past 15 years has involved exploring diverse holistic practices, including extensive yoga and meditation training across Asia and Australasia, resulting in over 500 hours of yoga teacher training (500YTT). Seeking a deeper understanding of integrative health, I pursued naturopathy studies, earning a Bachelor of Natural Medicine. I'm humbled to have been recognized with accolades in Herbal Medicine during my studies.

Now based in Arrowtown with my ever-supportive partner and our beautiful daughter Willow, I've come full circle in my pursuit of wellness. Instead of foraging for artisan cocktails, I now craft herbal tinctures and provide holistic support to individuals seeking transformative health experiences. When not in clinic I love going off grid in the mountains, paddleboarding, enjoying live music, foraging with my daughter, and continuing my education with a good book or research paper.

By blending evidence-based practices with time-honoured healing modalities, I employ functional medicine testing when necessary to uncover underlying issues and tailor effective treatments. We'll collaboratively craft a tailored treatment plan that aligns with your unique needs and aspirations, empowering you to attain and sustain optimal health for a lifetime.

FAQs

  • Naturopathy emphasizes holistic health and preventive medicine, utilizing natural remedies and leveraging the body's innate ability to restore balance. For example, naturopaths may interpret bloodwork for optimal ranges rather than solely focusing on disease states outside of large ‘normal’ ranges. We address subclinical findings through a multifaceted approach, avoiding reliance solely on synthetic pharmaceutical interventions. In contrast, conventional medicine practice primarily focuses on establishing diagnosis and symptom treatment, often limited by financial and time constraints seen throughout medical systems around the planet.

  • In New Zealand, naturopathy lacks regulation, allowing anyone to practice under this title, which can be concerning. As a result, naturopathy is not currently subsidized or supported through ACC funding. This is unfortunate, considering the abundant evidence-based literature supporting its efficacy in enhancing health. In contrast, other countries like Australia have regulatory measures in place, and certain health insurance plans cover complementary therapies including naturopathy. In the USA, Naturopathic Doctors (NDs) undergo extensive training similar to Medical Doctors (MDs), but emphasizing naturopathic principles, and you are unable to use the title Naturopath unless you hold full ND credentials. Thus, it's crucial to seek qualified and registered practitioners to guide your health journey.

  • Naturopathy and homeopathy differ primarily in the depth and bredth of their foundations and evidence basis. Naturopathy, a holistic healthcare system, integrates traditional wisdom with current evidence-based research and focuses on treating the root cause of illness and promoting overall wellness. In contrast, homeopathy is a single modality relying solely on extensive anecdotal evidence and without a scientific foundation, employing highly diluted substances to stimulate self-healing mechanisms.

  • The cost of naturopathy varies based on individual circumstances and treatment needs. Financial and energetic investments often influence the outcome, with more investment typically yielding greater results. For complex or chronic cases, functional testing and regular follow-ups may be necessary, potentially increasing costs. However, less complex cases such as an acute health concern or a supplement review would likely be less expensive, depending on the extent of services required.
